Located on a greenfield site in Metford, the brand new $470 million Maitland Hospital is set to boast state-of-the-art facilities for local residents and the Lower Hunter Valley region of New South Wales.
The new Maitland Hospital will provide an extensive range of adult and paediatric services including emergency, paediatric, maternity, chemotherapy and state-of-the-art operating suites. The hospital will provide essential services such as surgical, paediatric, maternity, mental health and emergency amenities, in addition to expanded oral health services and a range of ambulatory care and outpatient clinics.
David Ghannoum, Multiplex’s Regional Managing Director said this would be the sixth hospital Multiplex has delivered for the NSW Government in recent years.
“We are thrilled to extend our relationship with Health Infrastructure as delivery partner for the New Maitland Hospital,” he said.
“This is a fantastic piece of infrastructure for the Hunter region and we are looking forward to playing an active role in the community, both in the delivery of the Hospital and beyond,” Mr Ghannoum stated.
NSW Minister for Health, Brad Hazzard said the new facility will provide excellent health care for the community well into the future.
“The new Maitland Hospital is part of a regional building boom which is not only bringing much-needed health facilities to country NSW but is also generating thousands of construction and health-related jobs in local communities,” Mr Hazzard said.
Multiplex will commence main works in early 2019, with the hospital expected to open in 2022.
